This RARE, LIMITED EDITION 1960s hand-winding Constructa "Kronatron Electra" unisex vintage watch is a serious statement piece. It's a LOUD, bold example of what the Swiss thought the future would look like 60 years ago. There were less than 20 made. This is the only one known to survive.
And...it's been lovingly restored to operate as new!
The sharp angles are reminiscent of the EDGY mid century industrial design by Italy's carmaker Bertone. (Bertone is well known for designing the bombastic Lamborghini Countach, Lancia Stratos, and Bertone X1/9—of which I actually own one. Check out the photos.)
The Kronatron Electra is like wearing a flashy, ultra angular, 1960s Italian concept car on your wrist: It gets a ton of attention. Random people will constantly want to ask you about it. It's weird. People love or hate the design. No mechanic will dare work on it. The parts are impossible to find. There are millions of more reliable models that cost way less.
But, this is a bold watch for someone that wants edgy design and RARITY—even if impractical! (I'm 100% that kind of person. Check out the picture I included of my car.)
It features an octagonal case and a extremely uncommon vaulted (faceted) hexagonal crystal. It has a metallic "brownburst" dial with baton hands. It's mounted on the original 18mm gold-tone metal mesh bracelet. The adjustable buckle lets you control the length. It fits men's or women's wrists anywhere from tiny to VERY BIG 8.5" (21.6cm) around. (Want a different band? See below.)
The watch case is without a doubt the most ideal unisex size, measuring 36mm (1.4") across and 42mm (1.7") tall. It's the same width as the classic men's Rolex Datejust 36mm, and a little bigger than the original 1980s unisex Swatch. Although originally sold as a men's watch, it'll amplify rockstar wrists of any gender!
This incredibly rare statement piece adds a big, bold BANG to both casual and business casual outfits. Perfect for date night, club night, and the BEST BEST BEST watch ever for 70s-80s anime cosplay—especially Macross, Gundam, Voltron, Dirty Pair, and Akira.

🕰 CONSTRUCTA WATCH HISTORY 🕰
Constructa was a small Swiss manufacturer (created out of the Neuchatel company acquired by the Mondaine Group) in the 1950s. They were known for integrating inexpensive mechanical movements into daring, fashionable designs. Their low-cost manufacturing allowed them to undercut their competition and sell in department stores.
Constructa's watches were positioned as fashion accessories, rather than fine jewelry. They weren't terribly expensive. But, they were always made in small runs, and therefore quite rare—even when new. At the height of their production, they built fewer than 500 watches per year for the whole world. Records indicate they made fewer than 20 of this specific model. This is the only known remaining one.
🔎 CONDITION 🔍
It's cosmetically in VERY GOOD used condition. The gold plated case and winding crown show light signs of wear commensurate with age, including wear to the gold plating around hard edges. There is light wear on the gold bracelet. The original vaulted acrylic crystal is unscratched and appears as new. The mechanical movement is in LIKE NEW, mint condition.
HOW DOES IT RUN? The Baumgartner 866 1-jewel Swiss hand-winding movement works LIKE NEW. I fully restored this watch to ensure you're getting a dependable, functional timepiece. Every single tiny piece was disassembled, cleaned, inspected, adjusted, reassembled, and calibrated to keep time as well as the day it was first made. Sounds complicated and expensive? It was. A full servicing, mechanical restoration, and movement replacement like this generally costs at least $250. (That's over $250 that YOU don't have to pay.)
FUN FACT: The screws in this watch are so tiny that 4,000 of them fit in a thimble!
⏰ OPERATION ⏰
This is a hand-winding mechanical watch. Wind it once daily by turning the crown clockwise 10-15 times, or until you feel a slight resistance. It has a 39 hour power reserve, in case you forget to wind it for a day.
To set the time, gently pull the crown out to the first detent. Turn it until you reach the desired time, then push the crown back in.
Keep it wound even when you're not wearing it. This prevents the mechanisms from getting gummed up or corroded. If you do this, it'll last a lifetime!
It is NOT water resistant. Keep it away from water.
Of course, it's not about telling time. It's about how it makes you feel. For creative individualists, a watch is a powerful tool that amplifies the expression of your individuality.

Can I get a different colored watchband?
I have watchbands in many different styles, colors and materials. If you love the watch but want a different color band, send me a message. I'll see if I have the color you want in my inventory. If I don't, you can swap out the band for any strap you'd like by buying one online or taking it to your local jeweler or watch repair store.
Does my watch need a battery?
It depends on the watch.
1) Mechanical (hand-winding): These watches use a spring and gears to run. There is no battery. You must wind the watch once daily for it to keep running. Most of my watches are this kind.
2) Mechanical (automatic/kinetic): These use a spring and gears as well as a swinging pendulum that rotates as you move throughout the day. It winds itself. You don't need a battery and you don't need to wind it.
3) Quartz: These use batteries. Your watch will include a brand new battery. They can last anywhere from six months to a few years, depending on the watch.
I changed my mind! Can I cancel my order and get a full refund?
We don't accept cancellations for a refund. Instead, we offer you store credit which you can use on any of our other items. This store credit is good for one year.
Will the vintage watchband fit me?
Use a measuring tape to measure around your wrist.
All my detailed descriptions include the max wrist size of the bracelet. Bracelets are standardized. They're not an integral part of the watch itself. It's easy to change the band.
Gift wrapping and packaging
My gift wrapping is awesome. Choose the gift wrapping upgrade during checkout. Make sure to let me know the name of the person getting the gift so I can write it on the card.
The bracelet (aka band or strap) is usually NOT an integral part of the "watch" itself. It's normal (and somewhat expected) that you'll have a jeweler adjust the band to fit you, or replace the band with one that you can try on in person. Watchbands are standardized and available from any jeweler, watch shop, and online.
