This dainty 1930s women's Hafis "KEITH" is a "transitional era" watch—when people were transitioning from pocket watches to wrist watches. It's convertible jewelry. That means you can wear it on the wrist, as a pocket watch, or as a pendant. I mounted it on a custom, new old stock (unworn) gold filled Speidel bracelet, which makes it cool star/celestial theme jewelry. But you can easily remove the bracelet and wear it many other ways.

The petite 10k gold-filled round case is 1" (25mm) across. The two tone gold tone dial features Arabic numeral markers and blued "Modern"-style steel hour and minute hands. I love flapper and Art Deco jewelry, especially convertible watches, and Hafis is one of my favorite brands. I've never seen another one quite like this, so I had to snatch it up and make it mine! Plus, I had this fun fantasy that somebody named Keith would buy it and think it's hilarious.

I lovingly restored this masterpiece to operate just like it did way back when it was made—around 1935. YOU'RE WELCOME!

It's the perfect addition to a FANCY wrist (or necklace or pocket or brooch) near you! Simple, yet elegant, this Depression Era antique estate jewelry brings old world class to whatever your attire may be. It adds a flourish to casual outfits (blue jeans! yes!), and is beyond perfect for evening and formal-wear—especially a little black dress. And, it'll fall right into place with Victorian, Edwardian, and Flapper ensembles.

The custom NEW OLD STOCK Speidel gold filled bracelet has TINY STARS on it, and a DELIGHTFUL tiny little chain at the clasp. (The chain keeps it from falling when you open the clasp. I guess those corsets and girdles made people clumsier?)

It fits wrists up to a maximum of 6.5" (16.5cm) around. A jeweler can remove links for smaller wrists. If you have a larger wrist, you'll need to get a longer band—or wear it on a necklace instead. [Use a measuring tape to measure around your wrist before purchasing! Contact me if you have any questions!]

It features a 15 jewel mechanical hand-winding movement. What are these jewels? They're special rubies inside the watch that keep the gears working forever. More rubies = more expensive = more accurate = longer life.

    🕰 HAFIS HISTORY 🕰

    F. Suter & Cie (later known as Hafis Watch) was founded in Vienna, Switzerland in 1916 by Fritz Suter-Raetz and his brother. New-York's R. Gsell & Co. started importing Hafis watches to the USA in 1924. While the Hafis Watch Company technically existed as late as the 1970s, its heyday was between 1924-1950. These early Hafis watches were well-built with classic—and slightly quirky—styling.

    🔎 CONDITION 🔍

It's cosmetically in very good condition. It looks GREAT on the wrist, even though the case shows light signs of wear commensurate with 90 years of careful use and handling. The crystal and inner mechanical movement are in exceptional condition. There is a light patina on the dial, seen in the photos. The originally black hands have naturally blued with age—a pleasing antique look. The Speidel star bracelet makes it POP and shine! (You and I won't look half this good when we're 90 years old.)

HOW DOES IT RUN? The mechanical operating condition of the Swiss 15-jewel mechanical movement is LIKE NEW. I fully restored it to ensure you're getting a dependable, functional timepiece. Every single tiny piece of this watch was disassembled, cleaned, inspected, adjusted, reassembled, and calibrated to keep time as well as the day it was first made. Sounds complicated and expensive? It was. A full servicing and mechanical restoration like this generally costs at least $250. (That's over $250 that YOU don't have to pay.)

    ⏰ OPERATION ⏰

No battery—It's a hand-winding watch. Wind it daily to keep it running. If you want it to last a lifetime (or longer), keep it wound even when you're not wearing it.

It is NOT water resistant. Keep it dry!

Of course, it's not about telling time. It's about how it makes you feel. For creative individualists, a watch is a powerful tool that amplifies the expression of your individuality.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get a different colored watchband?

I have watchbands in many different styles, colors and materials. If you love the watch but want a different color band, send me a message. I'll see if I have the color you want in my inventory. If I don't, you can swap out the band for any strap you'd like by buying one online or taking it to your local jeweler or watch repair store.

Does my watch need a battery?

    It depends on the watch.

    1) Mechanical (hand-winding): These watches use a spring and gears to run. There is no battery. You must wind the watch once daily for it to keep running. Most of my watches are this kind.

    2) Mechanical (automatic/kinetic): These use a spring and gears as well as a swinging pendulum that rotates as you move throughout the day. It winds itself. You don't need a battery and you don't need to wind it.

    3) Quartz: These use batteries. Your watch will include a brand new battery. They can last anywhere from six months to a few years, depending on the watch.

I changed my mind! Can I cancel my order and get a full refund?

We don't accept cancellations for a refund. Instead, we offer you store credit which you can use on any of our other items. This store credit is good for one year.

Will the vintage watchband fit me?

Use a measuring tape to measure around your wrist.

All my detailed descriptions include the max wrist size of the bracelet. Bracelets are standardized. They're not an integral part of the watch itself. It's easy to change the band.

NOTE: YOU CAN NOT RETURN THE WATCH BECAUSE THE BRACELET IS THE WRONG SIZE. You're paying for the watch itself—the bracelet is basically free.

How do I return an item?

Contact us and we will guide you through the process. Note that the paperwork, documents, packaging, photographs, cards, and anything else in the package MUST be returned in the condition which we sent them to you in. If anything is missing or damaged we will deduct the value of those items from your refund.

    Bigger/Smaller Bracelets?

The bracelet (aka band or strap) is usually NOT an integral part of the "watch" itself. It's normal (and somewhat expected) that you'll have a jeweler adjust the band to fit you, or replace the band with one that you can try on in person. Watchbands are standardized and available from any jeweler, watch shop, and online.

NOTE: YOU CAN NOT RETURN THE WATCH BECAUSE THE BRACELET IS THE WRONG SIZE. You're paying for the watch itself—the bracelet is basically free.

What do I do if the bracelet isn't the right size?

YOU CAN NOT RETURN THE WATCH BECAUSE THE BRACELET IS THE WRONG SIZE. You're paying for the watch itself—the bracelet is basically free. The bracelet size is listed in the product description. And, any jeweler will adjust the bracelet/band size for you as needed.

A watch is like a ring or other fine piece of jewelry, in that you need to have a jeweler adjust it to fit your perfectly. This is expected and normal. You may even find that you want to replace the bracelet. Bracelets are not an integral part of the watch. They are interchangeable. They can be replaced easily—and quite inexpensively. You can do it yourself or have your local jeweler or watch repair shop do it for you.
