This 1946 Bulova "Shirley" is glistening Art Deco jewelry, and it's the most delicate, dainty watch in town! This refined and elegant white gold filled delicate silver bracelet watch brings Art Deco and Mid Century class to any outfit. It adds a flourish to casual, business, and evening formal fancy dress outfits.

This hand-winding 10k white gold ladies cocktail watch features a white dial with gold plated Arabic number markers and gold plated "modern" style hands. It's mounted on a period-appropriate Speidel USA stretch metal dainty silver bracelet (gold filled stainless steel). It fits tiny wrists from 5.5"-6.25" around. That makes it a perfect fit for a tween or teen. (Measure around your wrist with a measuring tape. Larger bands available at no extra charge.)

I bought it from the original owner, a tall, blonde 90-year-old woman in the remote Victorian gold mining town of Virginia City, Nevada. She got it as a gift from her "nana" on her 16th birthday in 1946.

Check out the original ad in the pictures. It cost $57.50 when new. That's equivalent to $766 today.

Bulova was started in New York in 1875 by Joseph Bulova—a recent Bohemian immigrant. For over 130 years they've been known for beauty, quality, and the technical innovations in their innovative Swiss movements.

It's cosmetically in VERY GOOD used condition. There are micro scratches on the case and mineral glass commensurate with 75+ years of light use, but nothing that stands out. The dial, hands, mechanical movement, and bracelet are in SUPERIOR condition with almost no signs of wear. Photos magnify the tiniest imperfections. This watch looks EXCELLENT in person. I've rarely found a watch this old with dial, hands, and mechanical movement as flawless as these.

HOW DOES IT RUN? The mechanical condition of the USA-made Bulova 5AB 17-jewel mechanical movement is EXCELLENT. It was fully restored by our master watchmaker to ensure you're getting a dependable, functional timepiece. Every single tiny piece was disassembled, cleaned, inspected, adjusted, reassembled, and calibrated to keep time as well as the day it was first made. This includes long-term stress testing on my timing accuracy scope. Sounds expensive? It was. A full servicing and mechanical restoration like this generally costs $200. (That's $200 that you don't have to pay.)

It doesn't use a battery—It's a mechanical hand-winding watch. Wind it once daily by turning the winding crown clockwise until you feel light resistance—generally 10-15 winds. To set the time, gently pull the crown out to the first detente and rotate it to adjust. Push the crown back in when done. Keep it wound even when not wearing it—this increases the life of the watch tenfold. It is in NOT water resistant at all. Keep it away from water!

Of course, it's not about telling time. It's about how it makes you feel. For creative individualists, a watch is a powerful tool that amplifies the expression of your individuality.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my package require a signature?

Yes. A signature is required for all shipments. That way you can rest assured that your items will arrive safely. Make sure to use a shipping address where someone can sign for your package, otherwise you'll have to go to the post office to collect it.

What shipping method do you use?

Items with free shipping are sent by USPS First Class with insurance and signature required. Upgraded shipping is USPS Priority Express mail with insurance and signature required.

Can I upgrade to faster shipping?

Yes! Upgraded shipping is via USPS Priority Express Mail with insurance and signature required. It usually takes 1-2 days within the continental USA.

Can I get a different colored watchband?

I have watchbands in many different styles, colors and materials. If you love the watch but want a different color band, send me a message. I'll see if I have the color you want in my inventory. If I don't, you can swap out the band for any strap you'd like by buying one online or taking it to your local jeweler or watch repair store.

Does my watch need a battery?

It depends on the watch.

1) Mechanical (hand-winding): These watches use a spring and gears to run. There is no battery. You must wind the watch once daily for it to keep running. Most of my watches are this kind.

2) Mechanical (automatic/kinetic): These use a spring and gears as well as a swinging pendulum that rotates as you move throughout the day. It winds itself. You don't need a battery and you don't need to wind it.

3) Quartz: These use batteries. Your watch will include a brand new battery. They can last anywhere from six months to a few years, depending on the watch.

I changed my mind! Can I cancel my order and get a full refund?

We don't accept cancellations for a refund. Instead, we offer you store credit which you can use on any of our other items. This store credit is good for one year.
